Chemical Peel

Chemical peels are an important part of skin health. Professionally applied to the skin, these chemical solutions cause accelerated controlled exfoliation that allow dead or damaged surface cells to shed, while deeper layers of more youthful skin to be revealed. This action is called cell turnover.
This results in epidermal and dermal thickening, fading in pigment irregularities, improvements in acne and acne scarring. The post-peel outcome is a glowing, healthy complexion.

What Do I Expect While Peeling?

Everyone experiences different levels of peeling, dependent upon skin type, resilience, type of peel and the number of layers applied. Some people experience 'sheeting', when large portions of the skin peel off at once. Some experience 'flaking', when small pieces of skin peel off, similar to dry, winter skin or mild peeling after sunburn. Others experience exfoliation that is not visible. If you don't peel, your skin is still exfoliating. In this case, the exfoliation is happening on a cellular level that can't be seen by the naked eye. Typically, the deeper the peel you receive, the more extensive peeling you will experience.

Is There Any Downtime After The Peel?

There is little to no downtime with medical grade chemical peels; however it will be easy to carry on with your regular daily life. Most importantly, is to avoid sun exposure and all activities that cause sweating for 48 hours after treatment.
Following a detailed post care instructions recommended by our medical aesthetician, will enhance your results and keep redness to a minimum.

Cosmelan Peel involves two-step process. The first step involves in-office application of a thick, peanut butter-like mask. This mask should remain on the face for 6-10 hours, depending on your skin type and the amount of hyperpigmentation being treated. The second step is an at-home application- for up to a year- to help maintain the results achieved with the Cosmelan Peel, while preventing the appearance of new blemishes.
Hyperpigmentation starts to fade gradually. You can expect to see the new healthy glow after four or five weeks.
